Hi! I'm Adam London. I'm a freshman from just outside of Chicago. I have been very involved in LSA-Student Government this year by serving on various committees, focus groups, and as an Associate Representative. I truly believe I can continue my hard work and help improve the college if you elect me to LSA-SG. I want YOUR voice to be heard, because without YOU my job is meaningless.
Change the roommate selection process: It's very frustrating that the only question asked when freshmen sign up for housing is, "Do you smoke?" I have been working on reforming the roommate selection process and I will continue to work with the government and administration to change the process. These changes will give incoming freshmen the choice to search for a roommate based on similar interests and living styles to help resolve any potential conflicts of the mismatching roommates while continuing to promote diversity in the residence halls.
Improve the libraries around campus: How frustrating is it to sit down with your computer in the library and realize that there are no outlets nearby? I hope to improve the overall condition of many of the 19 libraries on campus. By improving lighting and adding more outlets, studying at the library will be much more enjoyable and students will have an easier time getting more work done.
Better student communication with the administration: Most students have no idea who their administration is and how anything is done in the University. I believe it's important for students to have the opportunity to provide input on many administrative decisions and to have their voices heard around campus through different focus groups and panels. Also, I will look to promote more events where students can meet and interact with teachers and administrators to get to know the faculty behind the College.
Improve student relations with advising: The advising department is very receptive to hearing students' complaints and adapting their department in response to these suggestions. I will work as aliaison between students and the administration of the advising department. I will improve communication with advisers, add additional resources for students to use, and increase student input in new faculty hirings.
